Wheels is a modern quilt block that explores improvisational circles, wedges, and curved piecing through both machine and hand sewing techniques. Built from repeated wedge shapes, these blocks can feel graphic and structured, loose and organic, or somewhere in between.
This pattern is great for quilters who want to explore movement, color, and composition while learning new curved piecing techniques. As you build the circles, small changes in wedge size, proportion, and color placement can completely change the feel of the block. The pattern includes both full circles and simpler fan variations, making it approachable for a range of skill levels.
About the Block Studies Patterns
Block Studies patterns focus on small quilt studies designed for experimentation, skill building, and design exploration. Many can be expanded into larger quilt compositions.
