Rethink the Classic: Improv + Paperless Foundation Piecing
Log Cabin is a modern quilt pattern that reimagines the traditional Log Cabin block through color exploration, improvisational piecing, and reusable foundation piecing techniques. This pattern includes both foundation-based and ruler-free construction methods, giving you lots of room to experiment with proportion, value, and composition.
Using repeated strips and simple shapes allows the focus to shift toward color interaction and proportion. Small changes in strip width, value placement, and layout can completely change the overall feel of the composition. The reusable foundations also make it possible to explore more complex Log Cabin variations without the hassle of tearing out paper foundations.
About the Block Studies Patterns
