Abstractions: Exploring Shape, Color & Composition
Abstractions is a modern quilt pattern that explores color, value, proportion, and composition through simple strip piecing and improvisational layout variations. Working with repeated strip sets and geometric shapes allows lots of room to experiment with contrast, rhythm, and color interaction.
This pattern can be sewn with precise measurements or in a more ruler-free, improvisational way. Small shifts in strip width, proportion, and value placement can completely change the overall feel of the composition. The pattern also includes both machine and hand piecing instructions.
About the Block Studies Patterns
Block Studies patterns focus on small quilt studies designed for experimentation, skill building, and design exploration. Many can be expanded into larger quilt compositions.
